Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I am sorry to inform you that MP Irene Mathyssen’s “Made-In-Canada” C-392 legislation was defeated in the House of Commons last night. Conservative and Liberal MPs once again joined forces to defeat legislation which would support Canadian manufacturing and Canadian workers. To their credit, a few Liberal MPs did break ranks with their party and vote in favour of Irene’s legislation, including Bob Rae, Ken Dryden, Marlene Jennings, Wayne Easter, Judy Sgro, and a handful of others. However London-North-Centre Liberal MP Glen Pearson was among those who sided with the Conservatives in opposing this legislation. Local Conservatives Joe Preston, Dave MacKenzie, and Ed Holder also voted against this bill. I hope you will take a few minutes and write to the local MPs to express your disappointment in their lack of REAL support for Canadian workers and manufacturers. pearsg@parl.gc.ca holdee@parl.gc.ca prestj@parl.gc.ca macked@parl.gc.ca You can find Irene’s most recent speech in debate on this legislation at: http://www.irenemathyssen.ca/node/950 A video will follow shortly.
